Pioneering Breakthrough Techniques

With a 30-year history of being a leader in cardiac research, MemorialCare physicians have pioneered many new diagnostic tests and treatments for heart disease. We performed the first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in Southern California. We were one of the first institutions in the United States to use cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), and were instrumental in pioneering beating heart surgery.
